Mobivity is proud to announce that Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business Department of Marketing has chosen our Executive Chairman, William Van Epps, as the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award. This award recognizes the most distinguished W. P. Carey School of Business Department of Marketing alumni, and includes past recipients such as Ed Carson, Bob Bulla, Bob Zollars, Steve Marriott, and Len Berry.
Dr. Amy Ostrom, Chair of the Department of Marketing at the W. P. Carey School of Business, stated, “Alumni who have been recognized are an impressive group with a list of incredible contributions – both through the work they’ve done with organizations as a whole, as well as the communities that they give back to.” The Distinguished Alumnus award is not an annual award and is considered only through nominations from both current and emeritus faculty, for individuals that have earned recognition based on their contributions to the world of business. On Mr. Van Epps’ nomination, Dr. Ostrom noted, “Bill certainly deserves his spot among these outstanding alumni and leaders, and we couldn’t be more excited to recognize his contributions.”
Prior to joining Mobivity as Executive Chairman, Mr. Van Epps was CEO of Agile Pursuits Franchising Inc., a subsidiary of Proctor and Gamble. Previous to that, he held C-level roles with Papa John’s International Inc., Yorkshire Global Restaurants, AFC Enterprises, and PepsiCo Foodservice International.
“It is both unexpected and an incredible honor to receive this award.”
“I built the base of my career on the education I received and the connections I made while attending Arizona State University. I could not have asked for a better experience,” said Mr. Van Epps. “It is both unexpected and an incredible honor to receive this award, and I look forward to seeing more and more of the tremendous individuals that ASU prepares out in the workforce.”
Over the last 30 years, Mr. Van Epps has been a champion for technology adoption; a pioneer in the use of customer and product data; and a leader in all aspects of the restaurant industry. He joined Mobivity in January 2015. Since then, Bill has had a significant impact on the company’s business. He provides strong leadership, expert perspective on Mobivity’s many restaurant clients, and contributions to product development.
On the award, Dennis Becker, President and CEO of Mobivity, said “Bill has been a valuable member of both our board and our leadership team, and I speak for all of Mobivity when I extend our full congratulations.” He continued, “we couldn’t be happier to see ASU recognize his impressive career, and we look forward to further success in working with him at Mobivity.”
The award was presented at the Arizona State University Club on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 at 4:30PM, alongside the recognition of over 20 undergraduate and graduate marketing students with awards and scholarships.
